Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Development, management and execution of all strategic brand, marketing and communications efforts in collaboration with University-wide leadership across all schools and disciplines.
  • Leadership and management of all marketing and communications teams, ensuring ongoing alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Development and oversight of a Creighton’s internal and external brand, maintaining brand consistency and maximizing effectiveness of marketing and communications expenditures.
  • Development of strategies that attract and convert qualified students, alumni, donors, faculty and staff, meeting targeted student enrollment, fundraising and staffing goals
  • Development and management of growth and performance channels, responsible for all activities/analytics and their impact on bottom-line results.
  • Identification and implementation of KPIs and metrics that create leads and move the organization forward; creation and oversight of marketing and communications metrics dashboards.
  • Oversight of media buys, ensuring performance aligns with Creighton’s organizational goals and objectives.
  • Development and oversight of progressive public relations and communications strategies for all target audiences, working to promote Creighton internally, locally, regionally and nationally.
  • Oversight of government and community relations to successfully position Creighton on issues related to University interests with local, state and federal audiences.
  • Key University spokesperson for both internal and external audiences.
  • Provide education on fundamentals of digital marketing.
  • Ongoing management and maintenance of vendor relationship.
Qualifications:
  • At least 15 years of national brand, marketing and communications experience; with 8 years of experience in a leadership role; and at least 10 years of digital strategy experience
  • Success in leading and managing diverse teams from both marketing and communications disciplines.   Experienced leader to recruit and hire a diverse skilled team.   Inclusive management style.
  • Experience in building, leading and managing professionals through delegation of responsibility and continuous development of team members.
  • Experience in creating productive working relationships with key partners outside of marketing and communications departments in a sizable and complex organization.
  • Track record of leading strategic conversations with people from a range of diverse disciplines.
  • Ongoing passion for technology and digital marketing and communications strategies and platforms; heavy background in digital demand generation and tracking, website development, email marketing, mobile, social media and content.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing KPIs and metrics for all levels of marketing and communications activities, in alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Well-versed in public relations and communications development, tracking and execution.
  • Media-savvy, with experience in crisis management.
  • Progressive public and community affairs leadership.
  • Fluency in creative culture.
  • Preferred experience in higher education and advancement.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field. 
Skills and Abilities:
  • Must demonstrate a personal understanding – and operate in concert with – Creighton’s Catholic Jesuit mission.
  • High level of self-awareness, accountability and emotional intelligence.
  • Comfortable shifting marketing and communication efforts on-the-fly, as necessitated by results and/or changing environment.
