The position of Vice President of Information Technology is the senior most technology role at the university. The VP will focus on creating compelling experiences for our students, faculty, and alumni driven by innovative systems, efficiency, reliability, and data insights.

The VP of IT will provide information technology leadership, vision, planning, coordination, and implementation in a timely and cost-effective manner to enable the strategic goals and operational needs of the campus community. The VP of IT will manage a budget of approximately $13 million and is supported by direct reports overseeing the following areas; Digital Experience, Digital Transformation, Information Security, and Service Operations.

Working closely with IT staff and campus stakeholders, the VP of IT will assess the strengths, gaps, and needs in information technology at Creighton, will serve as the campus’s chief advisor on all technology-related initiatives, and will craft and guide the IT strategy for the future. In collaboration with faculty, students, staff, and senior administration, playing a key role in providing innovative, pragmatic, and forward-looking counsel on emerging technological trends and services of greatest benefit to the Creighton community.
Minimum Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field or comparable professional experience is strongly preferred;
•Minimum of fifteen years of progressively senior experience, including executive experience leading a team of at least seventy-five staff across all functions of technology; previous Chief Information Officer or Chief Digital Officer experience is strongly preferred
•Knowledge of higher education environments, including an understanding of educational operations, learning technologies, and emerging trends in technologies supporting the academic mission is valued, but not required; experience teaching or working directly in a higher education environment is preferred
•Senior leadership experience in information technology, stakeholder management, encompassing strategic planning, complex organizational structures, project planning, budgeting and management, vendor relations, risk management, and process transformation
•Strong commitment to the mission of Creighton University and a values-based environment is key.
•Excellent communication skills, oral and written; the ability to convey technically complex information and concepts in accessible terms
•Expertise within a focused area of technology delivery to support digital transformations including project management, system architecture, application development, quality assurance, or data and analytics
•The demonstrated disposition and commitment to collaborate; superb listening and influencing skills; the ability to cultivate trust and credibility with colleagues, including external constituents
•Experience as a fair, respectful leader and skilled administrator; proven ability to manage resources – human, financial, and physical – to maximize productivity and assure the highest quality work
