Standardized Patient – Health Sciences (Temporary PRN)
Creighton University’s Health Sciences Campus is home to six unique healthcare programs, all of which use simulation to develop student learning. Part of simulation includes Standardized Patients (SP) for simulated clinical encounters, physical exams and more!
Standardized Patients are people who portray patients in educational simulated encounters with students. In this role, you will be trained to recreate physical characteristics, memorize and present medical history, and have physical exams performed. You will also be trained to provide feedback to students on their communication skills. Being a Standardized Patient impacts the students’ experience during their education and can be greatly rewarding.
SPs will be asked to attend mandatory training which could be in person or via zoom. The events themselves will mostly be in-person with a few zoom encounters possible. Any in-person event will be at Creighton’s Werner Health Sciences Center located on 2616 Burt Street Omaha NE 68178.
Note: This position is a temporary part-time position, working various hours and is not benefit eligible.
Hours are flexible and depend on which events an SP chooses to participate in. Most events occur Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.
Minimum Requirements:
- Meet specific patient criteria for the case (diverse abilities and backgrounds welcome).
- Ability to be on time to attend events and training.
- Timely communication skills, both in-person and via technology (phone/email).
- With appropriate training, be able to provide feedback in written and verbal form.
