Senior Patient Coordinator – Oral Surgery
Creighton University is seeking to hire a Senior Patient Coordinator for the School of Dentistry Patient Care Coordinator Oral Surgery Team. The ideal candidate will be empathetic, flexible, and customer service driven.
Work Schedule: Full-time, 11-month role; Usually Monday through Friday; 7:30 am to 4:30 pm
Bilingual in English and Spanish languages preferred, but not required.
Key Responsibilities
Oral Surgery scheduler is responsible for day-to-day patient scheduling operations within the Oral Surgery department including:
- Answer inbound calls regarding appointments for Oral Surgery. Fields calls and answers frequently asked questions regarding processes of services provided by Oral Surgery department.
- Verify and register new patients into electronic health care records by requesting and verifying demographic information.
- Responsible for tracking, coordination, and communication of average of 75 patient referrals per month from outside providers.
- Calls to confirm upcoming appointments for patients and review protocols with patients to ensure patients are aware of the school’s quality of care standards.
- Maintains schedule and appoints patients for the assigned student and postgraduate resident while on rotation to the SOD to ensure proper cases are scheduled due to the complexity of patient care.
- Works in conjunction with the Finance department to obtain insurance pre-authorizations for patients before the patients’ appointments
- Works in conjunction with faculty from the Acute Care Department to schedule emergency patients into the Oral Surgery department for emergent procedures.
Qualifications
- Bilingual, Spanish preferred but all applicants will be considered.
- Minimum of High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years related experience.
- Knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
- Knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
- Must possess accurate, detailed, and strong organizational skills and meet deadlines
- Ability to operate a computer and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel
- Flexibility in scheduling based on operational needs
