Description:

Creighton University School of Law is currently seeking applications for a Senior Librarian for Reference & Instruction. The Senior Librarian will provide Legal Reference Services and teach Legal Research & Writing. This position will supervise circulation, interlibrary loan and document delivery services and stack maintenance. The Senior Librarian for Reference & Instruction will participate in faculty, student, staff and public teaching and outreach, including the use of research guides and social media.  Formal teaching could include teaching the Legal Research and Writing course to first year students and an Advanced Legal Research course to upper level students. Other teaching will include bibliographic and database instruction to students, faculty, and staff. The Senior Librarian will create, implement, and improve user service policies and procedures.  This position participates in Law Library leadership team decision making.  The Senior Librarian will coordinate policies and procedures to provide users with the widest possible access to both our print and electronic resources. Supervises one full-time library specialist.

Qualifications:

J.D. from an ABA-accredited school required

M.L.S. or equivalent from an ALA-accredited school preferred; will accept applications from candidates currently pursuing the M.L.S. or who are willing to pursue the M.L.S. while employed.

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Excellent interpersonal skills

Demonstrated commitment to high-quality customer service, along with a collegial and collaborative team-oriented attitude

2+ years professional law library experience with a focus in public service areas preferred

2+ years experience in a supervisory capacity preferred

Prior teaching experience preferred; prior legal research and writing teaching experience is a plus.

Prior experience with the development and use of learning outcomes and assessment

Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, include Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook

A strong commitment to innovation and a fluency with new and emerging technologies as they relate to information literacy, legal practice and library services

Project management experience preferred

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituents in a diverse community

Ability to function effectively as a team member, while exercising independent and critical judgment

Ability to organize and prioritize work with multiple and conflicting demands in a deadline-oriented environment
