Key Responsibilities 

  • Formulates competitive and equitable pay practices in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations to complete position evaluations and market analyses used to classify and market price positions and equity analyses to set salaries in consultation with partners. 
  • Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and structures to optimize hiring and maximize employee retention; provides options and solutions and recommendations to support organizational objectives 
  • Provide ongoing job analysis, benchmarking, compensation survey assessment and analysis, competitive market reviews, and analytical studies such as internal and external equity.  
  • Gathers data from market-based compensation surveys; uses spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends. 
  • Manage the annual merit planning process working closely with the budget office and all divisions units to ensure consistently accurate data; ensures adherence to university guidelines. 
  • Facilitates the development of new and maintenance of existing job descriptions in coordination with leaders and Human Resource Generalists. 
  • Develop and Conduct training and education on compensation, FLSA and related laws to leaders. 
  • Collaborate with HR business partners, local HR, managers and others to provide consultations and make timely and sound recommendations both verbally and in writing 
  • Collaborate with other entities with preferred methods and best practices for compensating and evaluating employees. 
  • Work closely with HRIS to create and maintain job code and position structures in the HRIS.  Acts as a compensation subject matter expert on system implementations impacting compensation 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in human resources or related field. 
  • 5 years of progressive compensation experience. 
  • Experience working in a higher education institution desirable. 
  • Experience with HRIS systems, Oracle Fusion preferred. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Human Resources policies and regulations, laws, regulations and best practices that impact benefits, employment activities, compensation/classification and talent management strategies. 
  • CCP or related certificate preferred.
