Summary

This position is in the school's admissions department.  The position is needed to support the recruitment of students for our Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy programs. While this counselor will need to possess knowledge of all SPAHP programs and locations, this individual will be based in Phoenix, AZ, with the primary goal of recruitment and expansion in the Phoenix market in anticipation of the launch of our programs at our new Phoenix campus.  


Description

This position must be very familiar with Creighton University and the programs and pathways in SPAHP, including a robust understanding of the culture and history of SPAHP, as well as the benefits of enrolling in the Pharmacy, PT or OT program. The individual in this position must also be able to establish long term relationships with prospective students and their support people (parents, significant others, and advisors).  This individual will assist with recruiting students for all programs and pathways in the School, but with primary focus on Phoenix recruitment.  The admission counselor is critical in the process of recruiting applicants from beginning until final enrollment through all means of communication, as well as meeting with and answering questions of potential applicants and families.  The counselor will be expected to promote Creighton, the school's mission and Ignatian values to potential applicants.


Duties of the Phoenix admission counselor:

- Recruit students for all three programs and six pathways (soon to be 9 pathways) in SPAHP

- Maintain a recruitment territory likely to include the Southwest region of the United States

- Serve as a point of contact for coordination of admission interviews on location in Phoenix

- Cultivate relationships with current partner institution (ASU), and assist the Director of Admission in vetting opportunities for new partnerships in the state of Arizona and the Southwest region of the United States

- Understand and be able to articulate the criteria for application into the different programs within the School.

- Work with a team of counselors and administrative staff to develop and implement an approach to successfully recruit applicants that will result in qualified incoming classes, especially for the inaugural Phoenix incoming classes.

- Travel as assigned and as need facilitates to Omaha

- Meet with families and applicants throughout the year as they visit campus.

- Coordinate prerequisite and application evaluation process.

- Review applicant credentials and provide feedback before and after the applicant applies upon request.

- Support admission staff and committees preparing the applicant files for review.

- Communicate with applicants throughout the entire recruiting process and season.

- Correspond with students. Follow up with visitors/applicants on a timely basis


Essential Functions:
  • 40%, Meets with prospective students, both on-campus and locations outside of campus, interested in entering graduate or professional programs.
  • 30%, Serves as representative at internal and external events. Participates and coordinates admission events for prospective applicants both on the new Phoenix campus and other locations.
  • 20%, Corresponds with students. Follows up with visitors/applicants as well as answering phone and email communications.
  • 10%, Reviews applicant credentials and performs unofficial evaluations of prerequisite coursework. Works with applicants regarding the completion of their files.
