Senior Admissions Coordinator
Under general direction, the Admissions Counselor/Senior Admissions Coordinator provides a high level of personalized service to prospective students who wish to explore, apply to and enroll at Creighton University through the School of Medicines. This position is responsible for building the relationships necessary to recruit, admit, and enroll new students, as well as assist the Director in coordinating the various admissions related activities that occur year-round. This person will regularly review applicant files to ensure completion, first level screening for interview, interview, and participate in presenting at Admissions Committee as a non-voting member. They will assist the Director in representing the School of Medicine local, regional, and national events such as college recruitment events, pre-health professions group meetings, and other events as requested. The role will also be responsible for hosting on campus visitors, creating and hosting virtual events, admitted student days and other duties as assigned.
- Recruit students for all programs and pathways in the School. Understand and be able to articulate the criteria for application into the different programs within the School. Participate in campus visit days, assist with interview activities, and meet with prospective students, both on campus and locations outside of campus.
- Serves as representative of the School at local, regional, and national events.
- Corresponds with students. Initiate follows up with prospective students and applicants via phone, e-mail, texting, social media, and written communications. Works directly with Admissions regarding students enrolling at Creighton.
- Reviews applicant credentials. Works with admission staff and committees preparing the applicant files for review. Work with applicants regarding completing their files.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree required
• 1-3 years’ experience in admissions, recruitment, advising or counseling
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Willingness to travel/drive and work on weekends and nights as needed
• Effective presentation and communication skills (written and verbal), which include prospective students and their families, outside institutions and internal stakeholders as audiences
• Knowledge of admissions and medical education processes
• Interpersonal/human relations skills
• Planning and organizational skills
• Ability to present pertinent information on Creighton University and the School selection process to both large and small groups.
• Ability to learn and apply institutional policies and procedures
• Ability to demonstrate self-direction and motivation
• Collaborative, team oriented and mission driven
