Resident Assistant Professor - Fine and Performing Arts - Studio Art

Creighton University’s Fine & Performing Arts Department seeks to fill a non-tenure track Resident Assistant Professor of Studio Art position. Initial primary teaching responsibilities to include, but not limited to, courses in Introductory Drawing and Design, Printmaking, and Life Drawing. Additional teaching responsibilities will include new course development in Drawing, Printmaking, Two-Dimensional Media and the intersection of the Visual Arts and Social Justice. Additional duties include service within the department, maintaining studio classrooms and labs, managing supplies, and training and supervising work-study students.

Teaching load is 4/4 for the academic year.

Preferred Qualifications:  Preference will be given to candidates with an active and excellent professional record at the regional or national level and at least three years of college or university-level teaching experience beyond graduate teaching assistantships. Position begins August 2022. Master of Fine Arts (MFA) is required at the time of application. Candidates are strongly urged to familiarize themselves with the department’s programs as well as the University and department mission.

3. Statement of Teaching Philosophy to include the candidates understanding of undergraduate research in the field of Visual Art
4. Candidates advancing to the final round of interviews will be asked for a statement addressing the candidate’s understanding of the interrelated missions of the University, College, the Fine and Performing Arts Department and the role they would hope to play in accomplishing those missions
5. Candidates advancing to the final round of interviews will be asked for three letters of recommendation, at least two of which speak to the candidate’s teaching ability
6. PDF of 15 images of professional artwork with accompanying image list
7. PDF of 10 images of student artwork with accompanying image list
8. Copies of academic transcripts from all institutions of higher education attended. Official academic transcripts will be requested for candidates advancing to the final round of interviews


MFA from an accredited college or university;
2-4 years prior teaching experience

Ability to foster student learning, development, and decision making in support of their goals, success, wellness, and needs;
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop rapport quickly and effectively with a diversity of populations;
Empathy and compassion for the experiences of others;
Ability to provide evidence of excellent university-level teaching and/or significant publications
