Research Nurse I-Osteoporosis

This role will support the Osteoporosis Research Center. This position will serve as a research nurse project manager, The project nurse manager will recruit study participants, schedule them for screening for study eligibility, obtain informed consent for eligible participants, support participants throughout their participation and collect and record data. The research project manager will manage clinical course of research volunteers according to research protocol.

Responsibilities will include: collect necessary data through patient interviews including, but not limited to, past medical history, present illness, social history, family history, medication history. Coordinate and document all aspects of patient care (including telephone contact with patient, or friends/family of the patient; conversations with the research team and medical providers who participate in the patients care, etc.) to ensure a comprehensive and consistent approach to the patient’s participation. Transcribe data completely and accurately to the case report forms for data entry to the database. Coordinate laboratory specimen processing and handling with appropriate lab supervisors. Maintain confidential records of participants according to FDA and NIH regulations. Assist in maintenance of participant data. Perform phlebotomy, vital signs, and other procedures within the scope of a registered nurse, and as directed by specific protocols. Initiates laboratory tests as defined within the scope of the protocols. Assesses for laboratory abnormalities and adverse experiences as directed by the protocols, and reports to the Principal Investigator.

Ideal candidate will have prior clinical research experience.

This position is 100% grant funded.

This position will work Monday to Friday; 8am-4:30pm; depending upon research needs position may require evening, weekend, and holiday work.

This position will also be working out of Immanuel Hospital. Role may require additional compliance requirements as this position is a non-Immanuel staff member.

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing;
Licensed Registered Nurse;
2-4 years of clinical experience; clinical research experience preferable but not required;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel; and Outlook

Required Licenses/certifications:
State of Nebraska RN License

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Ability to maintain confidentiality and strong understanding of HIPPA compliance;
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays depending upon research needs;
Ability to coordinate and prioritize work with multiple and conflicting demands in a deadline-oriented environment;

Ability to function effectively as a team member, while exercising independent and critical judgement;
Mission/Service and Results oriented;
Knowledge of specialized medical/scientific terminology;
Knowledge of medication and proper dosages;
Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data;
Familiarity with clinical resources and laboratory facilities
