The department of Biomedical Sciences is seeking a highly motivated Research Technician to assist in our studies on the contribution of inflammation and immune system in development, degeneration, repair and survival of the auditory neurons. 

The successful applicant will interface with the principal investigator and lab team members to provide research support and to help with building experimental setups, running experiments, data analysis, ordering necessary supplies, managing mouse colonies, and general lab management. Preference will be given to applicants with research experience in any of the following areas: Auditory functional testing (auditory brainstem response and distortion product otoacoustic emissions) in mice, inner-ear delivery, cochlear microdissections, confocal imaging, tissue culturing, molecular biology, and animal handling.

This position is 100% grant funded. 

This position will work Monday to Friday, 8am-4:30pm; depending upon research needs position may require evening, weekend, and holiday work.  
 

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related field of Science required;
2-4 year's research lab experience; Prefer experience in any of the following areas: Auditory functional testing (auditory brainstem response and distortion product otoacoustic emissions) in mice, inner-ear delivery, cochlear microdissections, confocal imaging, tissue culturing, molecular biology, and animal handling.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: 
Prefer experience in Auditory functional testing (auditory brainstem response and distortion product otoacoustic emissions) in mice, inner-ear delivery, cochlear microdissections, confocal imaging, tissue culturing, molecular biology, and animal handling;
Understanding of research methods, laboratory techniques, and care of laboratory equipment; 
Ability to interpret data, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues; 
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel; PowerPoint and Outlook;
Detail oriented;
Analytical skills;
Strong work ethic;
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Ability to work independently as well be a part of a small team;
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays depending upon research needs
