Program Manager - Global and Community Engaged Learning
Creighton University in Omaha, NE is seeking to hire a Global and Community Engaged Learning Program Manager.
This position provides coordination and support for embedding community-based and global learning outcomes and assessment into curricular programs across the University and in high impact co-curricular programs sponsored by the Global Engagement Office (GEO). The position provides support to faculty, students and community partners engaged in the development, practice and scholarship of community-engaged learning. The position works closely with the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE), the Schlegel Center for Service and Justice (SCSJ), administration in Creighton schools and colleges, and GEO leadership.
Responsibilities
Faculty and Staff Development: Collaborate with the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) and other University units in designing and delivering development opportunities for faculty and staff who lead community-based and global learning courses or programs:
- Provide supervisory oversight of Community-Engaged Learning, or Academic Service-Learning (ACSL)-designated courses.
- Coordinate information sessions on requirements of the Academic Service-Learning (AcSL) course designation, facilitate meetings of the Engaged Learning Advisory Committee’s to review applications/renewals, and liaise with the Registrar’s Office for inclusion of the designation in academic schedules.
- Facilitate community partnership introductions and monitor faculty / community contracts for service-learning courses.
- Support faculty, staff and students in the implementation and assessment of community- based global learning opportunities to assure safe, equitable, and reciprocal community partnerships (i.e. classroom and/or pre-departure orientations, tracking compliance with University policies and government agency regulations, facilitating reflection, etc.).
- Research and disseminate emerging trends and best practices in community-engaged learning, and coordinate programming to support the implementation of instructional methods and programs.
- Manage program budgets, specifically office budget and related grant funding.
- Track and support community-engaged learning data, and disseminate assessment reports annually.
- Convene and facilitate Community Engaged Learning committee.
- Represent Creighton on internal and external committees, including Cortina Community Board, MACSL (Metro Area Coalition of Service-Learning professionals), AJCU-CELP, PBJN, and others.
- Supervise Community Engagement Intern.
Community Partnerships: Collaborate with the Schlegel Center for Service and Justice (SCSJ) and other University units in the stewardship of community partnerships to promote internal communication, streamline engagement procedures, and enhance program participants’ experience:
- Lead the exploration of opportunities/needs in the Omaha metropolitan community that may best be served through curricular engagement and take responsibility for maintaining a current listing of such opportunities.
- Serve as a resource for exploration and maintenance of university-community curricular partnerships for members of the Phoenix campus.
- Assist faculty and community partners in matching course learning objectives with community needs/opportunities.
- Onboarding and training of community partners, staff, and faculty, and ongoing technical and logistical management of Creighton Engage platform.
- Cortina Community staff advisor.
Global Engagement Office Administrative Support: Provide administrative support for various Global Engagement Office (GEO) programs and initiatives including, but not limited to, sustainability, study abroad, international immersions, international student and scholar experiences, and Creighton Global Initiative (CGI) efforts:
- Assist in collecting and analyzing data across division on key operational metrics.
- Prepare and distribute reports to track effectiveness of programs, services, or initiatives.
- Support efforts to market, communicate, or promote programs and events, including websites, email campaigns, and social media.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required in education, leadership, counseling, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- 2 to 3 years’ experience supporting the development and implementation of community-based and global learning curricula in higher education.
- Experience in grant writing is helpful but not required.
- Experience studying or living abroad is helpful but not required.
Licenses/Certifications:
- CDI certificate in community development or similarly nationally recognized certification (preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong communication and organizational skills with proven ability to multi-task and coordinate multiple ongoing projects.
- Expertise in global learning competence assessment (i.e. intercultural skills, sustainability competencies, etc.).
- Knowledge of second language is helpful but not required.
