The Department of Medicine at Creighton University, CHI Health Clinic and the CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center is seeking a nationally recognized clinical educator and transformative leader to direct its Internal Medicine Residency Program and advance it to national preeminence. Candidates must be board certified in the specialty of Internal Medicine and be eligible for an academic appointment in the Creighton University School of Medicine at the Associate Professor or Professor level.  

The Department has 74 medicine residents and 39 fellows in seven subspecialty training programs. A 50% effort is committed to the Program Director role. It is expected that the Program Director will participate in clinical service through direct patient care.

The program director will also chair the Program Evaluation Committee and the Clinical Competency Committee; maximize the educational goals and operations of the continuity clinic, and coordinate Medicine Grand Rounds under the direction of the department chair. The Director also supervises associate program directors and core faculty, oversees faculty development and supports resident remediation and mentoring efforts.

The Program Director must hold a M.D. / D.O. degree with the ability to obtain a state of Nebraska medical license. The candidate must have a minimum five years of participation as an active faculty member in an academic ACGME accredited internal medicine program. Prior program administrative experience is preferred. Program Directors have broad responsibilities that encompass all aspects of GME training therefore excellent leadership, management and communication skills are necessary.

Candidates need to have experience in the areas of:
• Curriculum development (competencies, professional activities, learning activities, milestones)
• Enhancing the clinical learning environment
• Faculty Development, supervision and evaluation
• Resident Supervision, performance assessment, and career planning
• ACGME work hours
• Program evaluation and improvement processes including conducting an annual program review
• Program management, accreditation requirements, and candidate selection
• Management of program resources and personnel
