A postdoctoral scholar "postdoc" is an individual holding a doctoral degree who is engaged in a temporary and defined period, typically less than 5 years, of mentored research and/or advanced scholarly training for the purpose of acquiring the professional skills needed to pursue a career path of his/her choosing. Performs research under the supervision and mentorship of a more senior researcher, often called the postdoctoral advisor.


Ideal candidate will have strong background in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, genetics, or physiology and have experience in the field of inner ear biology or neuroimmunology (preferred). Experience with flow cytometry, cell sorting, analysis of RNA sequence data, ELISA, gene or peptide delivery is desirable. Additional responsibilities will include handling and caring small animals is preferred.

This position is 100% grant funded.

This position will work Monday to Friday, 8am-4:30pm; depending upon research needs position may require evening, weekend and holiday work.




Qualifications:
Doctorate Degree in Neuroscience, Immunology or related field
0-3 years' experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Strong background in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, genetics, or physiology;
Experience in the field of inner ear biology or neuroimmunology is preferred;
Ability to handle and care for small animals is preferred;
Experience with flow cytometry, cell sorting, analysis of RNA sequence data, ELISA, gene or peptide delivery is desirable;
Strong ability to interpret data and to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues;
Strong work ethic, excellent written and communication skills, and the ability to work independently;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel; PowerPoint and Outlook;
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays depending upon research needs
