Research Scientist summary:
The Research Scientist provides essential counsel in experimental design, statistical analysis, and clinical care while working collaboratively with other researchers, technicians, trainees and other Primary Investigators.  The Research Scientist will promote his/her supervisor's research program by conducting research studies and presenting findings.   
  
Qualifications for a Research Scientist:
Doctoral degree or equivalent in related field of study;
Seven (7) years of research experience in related field and/or 3 years of experience as a postdoctoral researcher;
Experience in sterile technique for cell culture with BSL-2+ practices, exceptional skills in cell culture models;
Prior experience with biopsy tissue processing and analysis and cell culture models with primary cells is strongly preferred;


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities for a Research Scientist:
Knowledge of concepts and practices in field of study;
Skill in using scientific rules and methods to solve problems;
Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems;
Must be familiar with multi-color flow cytometry (staining, gating, analysis using software);
Must be comfortable working with BSL2+ biospecimens (cells, plasma, tissue biopsies) from patients with cancer and/or other pro-inflammatory diseases or conditions;
Preferred qualifications (not required): ELISA, immunofluorescence, Next Gen sequencing, qRT-PCR, Western Blot, and other molecular biology techniques; mouse experience and animal procedures (phlebotomy, injections, tissue dissections) are strongly preferred but not required;


Postdoctoral Research Fellow summary:
A postdoctoral scholar "postdoc" is an individual holding a doctoral degree who is engaged in a temporary and defined period, typically less than 5 years, of mentored research and/or advanced scholarly training for the purpose of acquiring the professional skills needed to pursue a career path of his/her choosing. Performs research under the supervision and mentorship of a more senior researcher, often called the postdoctoral advisor. Provides senior-level technical lab support by designing and performing experiments and research related tasks.  Evaluates experiment results using complex statistical and multivariate analysis.  Prepares data for publication and assists in writing grant proposals.

Strong ability to interpret data and to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues; 
Strong work ethic, excellent written and communication skills, and the ability to work independently;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel; PowerPoint and Outlook;
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays depending upon research needs
