Creighton University is seeking to hire an Outreach Coordinator for the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC).

Summary: The Full Time TRIO EOC Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting, providing services to, and monitoring the progress of an assigned caseload of 450 participants. The coordinator will work on campus and report to the Project Director.  This is a grant funded position, hourly position (pay range from $16.50 to $19.25 hour, based on experience, education, and skills). Schedule is typically Monday through Friday with handful evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide educational assistance to low-income and first-generation adults over the age of 19, who reside in Omaha or the surrounding areas and maintain annual contact with previous EOC participants
  • Implement approved recruitment strategies, identify, and recruit new participants by conducting monthly workshops onsite and in the community
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with new and existing community partners, and educational, faith-based organizations
  • Attend and facilitate job and educational fairs, on-campus and offsite professional development workshops
  • Assist EOC participants with enrollment into Adult Basic Education Programs and conduct GED orientation workshops
  • Administer assessment tests to program participants and advise on matters of college preparation, academic success, career exploration, personal development, and financial literacy
  • Assist participants with completing college admissions applications, completing the FAFSA or Federal Financial Aid, and enrolling into postsecondary courses.
  • Provide participants assistance with financial aid appeals and loan defaults
  • Stay current with the catalogue and program requirements of colleges and universities in the target area
  • Develop, maintain, and submit timely and accurate reports on personal and participant activities and progress
  • Refer participants to agencies or other TRIO programs that provide services not offered by the project

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's Degree required in education, psychology, counseling, sociology, or a related academic discipline.
  • 1-2 years of experience with low-income, first-generation populations or populations like those served by the EOC project.
  • Current valid drivers license with acceptable driving record.
  • Must have reliable vehicle to travel to clients and meetings in Omaha and surrounding areas.
  • Two years of experience that involved networking with community agencies, educational institutions, or faith-based organizations strongly preferred.
  • Experience in implementing college preparation, academic success, career exploration, personal development, and community involvement workshops and activities.
  • Knowledge of current educational resources, trends, and information that are typically used to deliver services, e.g., college planning, academic success, study skills, career development, personal development, and community involvement. 
  • Must be highly organized and have superb customer service and listening skills.
