POSITION:  Director of Clinical Programs (Tenure- or Tenure Eligible-Track)

Creighton University, a Jesuit institution, invites applications for the position of Director of Clinical Programs, a tenure-track, or tenure-eligible faculty position in the School of Law. The Clinic delivers live-client clinical experience for law students while fulfilling the Jesuit Mission of educating persons for others by exposing students to critical legal needs in the community. The Clinical Programs currently include a general civil practice clinic and an immigration clinic and are open to expanding to other practice areas. The Clinic Director supervises students and staff attorneys in all areas of instruction and practice. The Clinic Director may be expected to supervise the School of Law’s externship program.

The successful candidate will have teaching and supervisory experience and may be willing to maintain a caseload for personal or professional growth. Candidates must demonstrate 1) a strong academic background, 2) a strong practice background, including a good track record of engagement with public interest law and/or the legal education community, 3) a capacity and commitment to effective teaching and student supervision, 4) a capacity and for scholarship, and 5) experience in or a capacity for writing grants, soliciting outside funds, and conducting donor relations. Prior clinical teaching experience is preferred. The successful candidate must be eligible to waive into the practice in Nebraska and complete a background check.

The Clinic Director manages and oversees all aspects of clinic operations, including but not limited to: client selection, intake, and representation; quality control; supervision of clinic staff; maintenance of client trust accounts and fiscal decisions within the Clinic budget; and relationships with external University, governmental, and private stakeholders. The Clinic Director may also participate in public service activities, bar committees, and non-profit organization activities.
