Creighton University in Omaha, NE is seeking to hire an Instructional Technologist II

 

The Instructional Technologist II is a part of the Center for Faculty Excellence eLearning Team and collaborates with faculty, staff, and administrators to enhance instructional methods, leveraging technology to improve the overall educational experience. Will be responsible for researching, implementing, and supporting academic technologies, with a strong emphasis on facilitating distance learning initiatives and hyflex teaching models. Additionally, they will provide in-person and virtual training and support to instructors, ensuring seamless adoption of these technologies.  This is a new, full time position.

 

  • Develop and maintain training programs and materials designed to support and promote academic instructional technology needs. Promotes and supports the adoption of technology in teaching and learning by creating demonstrations of instructional applications of technologies; planning, coordinating and conducting special topics workshops in the use of technologies in instruction for faculty, staff or conferences; arranging and scheduling new technology demonstrations and workshops.
  • Provide basic troubleshooting support to faculty for use of the learning management system as well as other university-supported academic technologies.
  • Assists faculty in incorporating technology into their teaching and scholarship, including providing individual training and consultation to plan, organize, and develop technology-supported learning materials.
  • Researches, analyzes and evaluates new technologies for potential applications in instruction.
  • Research published information on e-learning topics to keep current on best practices in academic technology and instructional design. Engage in continuous professional development through online or in-person training, presentations, conference attendance, etc.

Qualifications:

  • MS or MA in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Educational Technology or related field and/or equivalent experience required.
  • 3+ years of experience in working with eLearning technologies in an academic environment, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Proven experience with learning management systems (Canvas preferred), web conferencing, and lecture capture required.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of current instructional theories for collaborative learning with technology-based tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training to individuals and groups, in-person and virtually.
  • Exceptional English-language written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using and troubleshooting educational technologies and software relevant to distance education and hyflex teaching.
  • Proficiency with digital accessibility standards and principles.
  • Knowledge of various operating systems.
  • Project management skills are key.
