GME Operations Manager


The Graduate Medical Education Operations Manager provides the operational leadership and direction for the GME programming in Phoenix under the Creighton Alliance.


Reporting to the Executive Director of the Creighton University Arizona Health Education Alliance, this position works collaboratively with the Phoenix-based Assistant Dean of Graduate Medical Education, residency and fellowship Program Directors, Alliance partner management teams, Creighton-Phoenix GME staff/coordinators and the Omaha-based GME office.



Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of GME programs to ensure they operate in accordance with accreditation requirements and individual hospital compliance standards.
  • Provides support and collaborates with program directors, associate program directors and residents.
  • Primary Phoenix liaison with GME office/staff based in Omaha.
  • Facilitates direction for and participates on all GME-related committee meetings (HLC, GMEC sub-committees, etc.).
  • Partners with Creighton Alliance GME stakeholders to develop and manage annual program budgets, including related trainee stipends and expenditures.
  • Operational lead for New Innovations, overseeing all functionality, reporting, surveys, evaluations and required documentation. Responsible for ensuring accuracy of data.
  • Develop residency/fellowship program marketing/recruitment strategies in partnership with Communication Strategists.
  • Leads the planning and implementation of new resident orientation, including the credentialing and provisioning of all incoming residents.
  • Project manager for GME-specific workgroups and committee action plans.
  • Point person for Creighton resident/fellow operational matters at Alliance partner training sites.
  • Maintain Creighton Phoenix GME policies and procedures that are consistent and compatible with those adopted by the training sites and the Graduate Education Committee. Ensures policies and procedures are communicated to and made available to all housestaff every year.
  • Facilitate submission of all documents for and monitors maintenance of appropriate licensure, visas and certification of residents/fellows.
  • Provide leadership guidance and development for GME Supervisor, providing oversight and opportunities for professional development.
  • Provide administrative support for resident/fellow grievance and appeal matters.
  • Supports coordination and oversee execution of GME related contracts to ensure compliance for inbound and outbound rotations.

Bachelor’s Degree and experience in an academic/medical department. 

8 years’ experience in health care administration preferred

2 years management experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Experience with developing and implementing program ideas into successful academic programs 
Ability to work independently and pay close attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including written and verbal, problem solving, diplomatically handling problems of a sensitive and/or confidential nature
Superior organizational skills
Commitment to providing excellent customer service

Accounting, bookkeeping, word processing and typing skills may also be required by some departments Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description
Required knowledge of the following applications/websites: E*Value, ERAS, NRMP, ACGME WebADS, specialty board, and other related digital marketing platforms as needed.
Required understanding of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements for Institutional, Common, and specialty program requirements and the accreditation process
