Under the direction of the Alliance Designated Institutional Official and the Director of Operations, the GME Manager provides management and oversight of the compliance and operations of graduate medical education training programs affiliated with the Creighton University Arizona Health Education Alliance. Manages institutional and program coordinators to ensure programs operate in accordance with accreditation requirements and individual hospital compliance standards.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of GME programs and supervision of staff.  Provides management support for program director, associate program director and residents.
  • Collaborates with DIO, Program Directors and Coordinators to maintain accreditation.
  • Facilitates direction for GME-related committee meetings (HLC, GMEC sub-committees, etc.).
  • Partners with program directors and coordinators in managing annual program budgets, including related trainee stipends and expenditures.
  • Assist with development of residency/fellowship program marketing/recruitment strategies.
  • Leads the planning and implementation of new resident orientation, including the credentialing and provisioning of all incoming residents.
  • Oversee the implementation of evaluation strategies and facilitates ongoing process improvement of resident and fellow evaluation and competency assessment using New Innovations.
  • Maintain and oversee Creighton Alliance GME policies and procedures that are consistent and compatible with those adopted by the training sites and GMEC. Ensures policies and procedures are communicated to and made available to all housestaff every year.
  • Ensure that residents and fellows meet compliance and annual training requirements as required by the training sites.
  • Facilitate and manage implementation of all administrative requirements for resident/fellow trainees including employment onboarding, system provisioning, meal stipend allocation, etc.
  • Facilitate submission of all documents for and monitors maintenance of appropriate licensure, visas and certification of residents/fellows.
  • Responsible for the comprehensive leadership and coordination of the residency/fellowship training program(s) and related staff. This includes accreditation site visit preparation, applicant selection, trainee evaluation, program evaluation, policy writing, assessment of graduate outcomes, and other issues.
  • Provide administrative support for resident/fellow grievance and appeal matters.
  • Supports coordination and oversee execution of GME related contracts to ensure compliance for inbound and outbound rotations.
  • Facilitate and support program coordinator training/professional development.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and experience in an academic/medical department.
8 years experience in health care administration preferred
  
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Experience with developing and implementing program ideas into successful academic programs
Ability to work independently and pay close attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including written and verbal, problem solving, diplomatically handling problems of a sensitive and/or confidential nature
Superior organizational skills
Commitment to providing excellent customer service
Accounting, bookkeeping, word processing and typing skills may also be required by some departments Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description
Required knowledge of the following applications/websites: E*Value, ERAS, NRMP, ACGME WebADS, specialty board, and other related digital marketing platforms as needed.
Required understanding of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements for Institutional, Common, and specialty program requirements and the accreditation process
