Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree; and/or or 5 years direct work experience in area related to emergency management or criminal justice.
• 3 years of leadership experience in emergency management and preparedness
• Basic FEMA, Nebraska EMA, NIMS and/or ICS certifications, such as the FEMA Professional Development Series, FEMA IS-100/200/300/700/800, and NIMS ICS-300/400
• Demonstrated ability leading a team in emergency preparedness and business continuity programs, with the ability to provide strategic planning, consultation and assessments and recommendations for improvements.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with local, state and federal emergency management agencies, as well as with counterparts at other universities and professional organizations.
• Excellent writing skills with demonstrated ability and experience to develop and draft policy, recommendations, procedures, reports, presentations, and communications
• Well-developed skill in manipulating and analyzing various types of data and information using computer software applications
• Excellent oral communications and presentation skills
• Excellent organizational skills and time management skills
• Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
• Administrative work experience involving the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, and practices
• Proficiency skills in MS Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Emergency Management or Criminal Justice
• Advanced professional development training or certifications, such as:
• Certified Emergency Manager (CEM)
• Associate Emergency Manager (AEM)
• Certified or Master Business Continuity Professional (CBCP or MBCP)
• Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program (HSEEP)
• Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP)
• Emergency management experience within an institution of Higher Education
• Experience in preparing and delivering instructional materials
• Experience in project management
