Position Summary:

This position plays a critical role on the curriculum team which is responsible for supporting, implementing, and executing the medical education (MD degree) program. The position assists in managing the curriculum and instructional materials for the medical students. Curriculum Coordinators act as the liaison between faculty, component directors, discipline stewards, instructional designers, administrative staff, and students to ensure that learning sessions have the necessary support.  

 

 

Essential Functions:

Curriculum support and Planning

·       Supports the daily implementation of the medical student curriculum

·       Attends pre-course meetings

·       Ensures appropriate rooms are reserved for sessions

·       Maintains Outlook calendar for assigned courses/tracks

·       Communicates logistics of learning sessions with faculty

·       Collects and tracks session content, prework, and other learning materials

·       Works collaboratively with counterparts on both campuses to create session sheets, coordinate curriculum, and maintain the organization of curricular artifacts

·       Maintains the organization of assigned courses in the Learning Management System

·       Assists faculty, staff, and administration in database management and curriculum mapping  

·       Provides in-person/classroom support for curricular small group and active learning activities as needed

·       Completes cross-training to support other curriculum coordinators in the Office of Medical Education

 

Provide administrative assistance for medical students 

·       Communicates logistics of learning sessions and expectations to students on a weekly basis

·       Assists students with questions about curricular sessions/activities/grades/technical issues and directs students to the appropriate faculty member/component director/resource/support.

·       Ensures student compliance with the Medical Education Program Attendance Policy and Absence Request Procedure by monitoring and tracking absence requests.

·       Tracks students’ completion of assignments and attendance during required activities.

 

 

 

 

Track Faculty Participation Within Curriculum

·       Monitors faculty educational activities within the curriculum and submits data to the Program Director(s) of the Office of Medical Education

 

 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or 4 + years of relevant experience
  • Preferred experience:
  •     Use of Office 365 suite 
  • Use of learning management systems, database, or mapping software
  • Work experience in higher education; medical education a plus

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

·       Intermediate experience with Office 365 (Outlook, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Microsoft Forms, and Excel)

·       Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines

·       Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

·       Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills

·       Ability to problem-solve and work collaboratively

·       Ability to work successfully both independently and as part of a team

·       Ability to build positive working relationships with faculty, staff, and leadership on both campuses

·       Ability to remain levelheaded and professional under pressure/stress

·       Ability to comprehend group dynamics and react/respond appropriately

·       Willingness to be a team-player and demonstrate personal/professional growth
