Community Connector
Creighton University in Omaha, NE is seeking to hire a Community Connector.
Serves as a formal support for youth and families referred to Community Connections. Establishes positive relationships with families and identify strengths, needs, and capacity to participate. Connects families to community resources in a culturally responsive manner to prevent involvement or further involvement with law enforcement, the juvenile justice or child welfare systems. This is a grant funded position in the School of Law.
Must have flexibility and ability to work nights and weekend hours as needed and willingness to travel between family homes, community agencies, schools, etc.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide intensive case management for youth and families, that is trauma-informed and strength-based
- Maintain frequent contact with youth and families (phone, text, social media, email, in-person, etc.)
- Complete and maintain necessary forms, consents, paperwork, and documentation. Must maintain necessary records, documentation, etc. consistently.
- Serve as a “bridge’ between families and community and collaborate with community agencies to provide supportive services and to remove any barriers to accessibility of such services.
Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Social Services.
- 3 +years of experience working with youth and families or the child welfare and juvenile justice systems (any equivalent combination of experience, training, and education will be considered).
- Lived experience in child welfare and juvenile justice systems preferred and knowledge of supports and services that exist for youth and families, specifically in North and South Omaha.
- Bilingual preferred
Skills
- Expertise in managing multiple tasks at one time.
- Must have sound judgement and timeliness in handling sensitive and difficult situations.
- Strongly skilled in writing and verbal communications a must.
