The Lab and Simulation Coordinator shall be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the EMS program’s lab & simulated learning activities. Day-to-day activities associated with lab & simulation education includes scheduling, lab setup, and management of all lab equipment and supplies. Expectations include development of lab and simulation curriculum with objectives and key performance indicators, scenarios, and other learning materials. Instructional responsibilities will include the facilitation of laboratory task training and complex, integrated scenarios; as well as other classroom facilitated teaching sessions. Development and administration of psychomotor and scenario examinations that are valid and reliable is an essential function. Responsibilities include the supervision and mentorship of the program’s assisting laboratory instructors, promoting the safe use of all lab equipment and facilities by students, faculty, and staff. In addition to supervising laboratory and simulation sessions, the coordinator will monitor the quality of medical instruction, supervision, and evaluation of students. Ongoing laboratory instructor training workshops will be developed by the coordinator to include: inter-rater reliability, evaluating student performance, providing effective feedback, formative and summative evaluation instruments, and the use of various laboratory equipment. Developing, managing and maintaining a system capable of tracking the number of times each student performs in the lab each of the competencies required is included in this position. This position will help to instruct EMS students in accordance with program policies and procedures, facilitating classroom and laboratory sessions. Other responsibilities, assignments, and tasks may be added based on changing EMS department needs.                 
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s degree required in related medical, public safety, educational, or administrative field of study. Master’s degree preferred. Successful applicants will be Nationally Registered paramedics, eligible for Nebraska paramedic licensure. Three years of patient care experience in an emergency or critical care environment, preferably including field experience in the delivery of out-of-hospital emergency care.  Furthermore, three years of proven experience as an educator of health or medical related content, preferably involving EMS laboratory and simulation sessions. Knowledge about the principles of adult education and of the emergency medical services profession is essential. Currently recognized as or eligible for certification as an EMS Instructor required. Strong organizational skills, attentive to details, effective communication and documentation skills, teamwork, leadership, and knowledge of medical/educational/computer skills are necessary. Interest in collaborative and interprofessional pedagogy is essential. BCLS, ACLS, PALS, PEPP, AMLS, ITLS, and PHTLS preferred.
