Summary:

The Associate Vice President for Communications is responsible for developing the overall presidential communications strategy, ensuring the effective alignment of presidential communications and institutional messaging. In consultation with the President and VP UCOM, the AVP will develop comprehensive strategic communications plans and oversee them across multiple platforms, including print, digital and social media. The AVP will serve as the president’s staff officer in charge of developing strategic communications, representing the image and the interests of the University president in all written, published, formal and semi-formal public and media communications. The person in this role must understand and hone the president’s voice to be able to flawlessly ghost write for the leader.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in relevant field
12+ years of progressive leadership experience
  
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Knowledge of higher education and operational practices and processes of department(s).
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources.
Ability to instill confidence and trust along with the tact to challenge, in a positive way, various stakeholders and constituents on operational matters.
Experience with strategic and operational planning at the department level.
