Reporting to the IT VP/CIO, the Assistant Vice President of IT will provide information technology leadership, vision, planning, coordination, and implementation in a timely and efficient manner. Creatively conceptualize, communicate, and implement proactive change in support of strategic goals. Strong focus and nimble delivery of services to support the operational needs of the campus community. The AVP will be accountable to manage multiple IT directors and functional units supplemented by contractors and student workers. Working closely with IT and university leadership, deans, department chairs, and university partners, the AVP role is also responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing a digital roadmap in support of new capabilities and efficiencies that will drive the transformation of the University. Areas of responsibility may include but are not limited to: using data & analytics to support decision making and operational efficacy, vendor management, and overseeing IT functions including customer service, help desk, and new product development. This is a high-profile role within the University and will help drive needed modernization and transformation across several IT areas to support the university’s overall strategy and needs.


Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree is required; a master's degree or higher in a relevant field or comparable professional experience is strongly preferred;
10+ years of leadership experience in a higher education or comparable environment, including substantive work with student/intern support and information systems management;
10+ years of experience in organizational innovation, transformation, and process improvement; experience documenting and measuring research and development projects is a plus;
Experience with personnel management, financial analysis and budgeting;
Must possess strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills;
Strong leadership, collaboration, and communications skills a must; must be able to interface and coordinate efficiently and effectively with various colleges, departments, community stakeholders, vendors, and external partners.
Senior leadership experience in information technology, encompassing strategic planning, complex organizational structures, project planning, budgeting and management, vendor relations, risk management, and process transformation;
Experience as a fair, respectful leader and skilled administrator; proven ability to manage resources – human, financial, and physical – to maximize productivity and assure the highest quality work;
