The Department of Exercise Science and Pre-Health Professions invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with expertise in biomechanics to begin August 2019. Candidates should be prepared to teach undergraduate courses in biomechanics and neuromechanics, and other courses depending upon department need. In addition to teaching nine contact hours each semester, the successful applicant will engage in scholarly activity in their area of expertise; submit/obtain grant funding; advise undergraduate students; contribute to undergraduate research; participate in university, college, and departmental committee service; and support student recruitment and retention initiatives. Interested candidates should familiarize themselves with our programs, department, university and mission.


Qualifications: Earned doctorate in exercise science, biomechanics, or related field from an accredited college or university by time of appointment (ABD considered with established defense date); strong communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated line of scholarly activity evidenced by publications, professional presentations and/or grant submissions/funding. Teaching experience at the university level and professional certifications relevant to the position (e.g., ACSM, NSCA) is preferred.

Salary: Competitive and dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Effective Date of Employment: Nine-month tenure-track appointment beginning August 2019. Summer school employment may be available dependent upon department needs.

• three letters of recommendation, at least two of which speak of the candidate’s teaching and research ability
