Academic Clinical Education Coordinator

Assistant Professor Faculty Position in Occupational Therapy

Omaha, Nebraska

 

Creighton University School of Pharmacy and Health Professions has an immediate opening for the Department of Occupational Therapy Academic Clinical Education Coordinator (ACEC), a full-time (12-month) clinician educator, non-tenure track faculty position. The Department is nationally recognized for its leadership and innovation in occupational therapy doctoral education. The ACEC must be dedicated to expanding the scope of occupational therapy practice and education and challenging our students to actively reflect the University’s Ignatian values. The faculty member would join an established team of three academic clinical education faculty members and two administrative assistants.

 

Minimal Qualifications:

• Terminal doctoral degree in occupational therapy, or related area of study; PhD, EdD, ScD, DSc, or OTD. • Occupational therapist with active Nebraska license or eligibility for Nebraska licensure. • Three years of experience as an occupational therapist. • Three years of experience in fieldwork coordination and/or student supervision. • Evidence of excellent communication with healthcare and community stakeholders. • Experience in clinical and/or academic teaching, service, and/or scholarship.

 

Responsibilities:

• Year-round administration of the clinical education component of the occupational therapy program including oversight of contracted clinical sites and student placement at clinical sites. • Develop, coordinate, and effectively communicate with clinical sites and support for fieldwork coordinators, educators, and other key stakeholders. • Manage clinical education courses and teach proficiently in order to provide excellent clinical education preparation in in face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid learning environments. • Maintain current knowledge of occupational therapy literature, reimbursement, and ACOTE standards to maintain program adherence and integrity related to clinical education (Level I Fieldwork, Level II Fieldwork, and Capstone experiences). • Collaborate with fieldwork coordinators, educators, and other key stakeholders to ensure clinical education experiences are congruent with program objectives. • Communicate and report on the progress and outcomes of fieldwork students to the Department of Occupational Therapy in order to promote connections between the clinical education and didactic aspects of the occupational therapy doctorate curriculum. • Provide individualized student clinical plan of study advisement, academic advisement, and general student support. Provide student support and advisement. Experience working with diverse populations and students with accommodations preferred. • Engage in teaching, service, and scholarship.
