Creighton University’s Department of Cultural and Social Studies invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position within its Medical Anthropology Program, to begin in the Fall 2019 semester. We seek applicants with a PhD in anthropology or closely related field, with expertise in medical anthropology. Candidates should demonstrate a credible research and publication trajectory in an area related to health care, public health, global health or another domain that supports or complements the strengths of the program and department. Geographical area focus is open. Ideal candidates will be energetic teacher-scholars dedicated to undergraduate education, and to working within a multi-disciplinary department committed to social justice in teaching, research, and service. The position carries a 3-3 teaching load with class sizes averaging 20-35 students.

Qualifications:

PhD  must be completed by the start of the contract

2-4 years prior teaching experience;

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Ability to foster student learning, development, and decision making in support of their goals, success, wellness, and needs;

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop rapport quickly and effectively with a diversity of populations;

Empathy and compassion for the experiences of others;

Ability to provide evidence of excellent university-level teaching and/or significant publications
