This Assistant Creative Director is key to supporting the Creative Director in the planning, strategy, concepting, and development of design/content for Creighton’s key initiatives that differentiate us from competitors, and align with the University’s strategic goals. The ACD role participates in
day-to-day management and execution of distinctive projects, partnering with the Creative Director to achieve our objectives and meaningful results for the University’s nine schools and colleges and administrative units.


This role will direct multiple client projects simultaneously with a particular focus on brand awareness and fundraising. This includes ensuring all projects align with overarching strategy, goals and brand guidelines. The candidate also must meet deadlines, conduct project planning and consulting, develop positive relationships with campus clients and address any issues that may arise throughout the duration of the project.

The ability to translate a strategy into a creative vision and messaging across various media platforms is essential to being successful in this position. This includes an ability to listen, learn and interpret the needs of a client, and volunteer ideas and solutions that will be effective and influential in achieving their goals. In addition, the individual must build on Creighton’s brand to sharpen and further differentiate our positioning and story.


This role will help lead a small team of designers and/or writers, including providing direction, motivation and administrative organization. The ACD will meet weekly with direct reports, and identify team-building and engagement opportunities. This role will be active in and vital to the day-to-day operations of the team and serve as an advocate for team members. The ACD will keep the CD well-informed through regular contact and briefings.


The ACD must establish and maintain lasting relationships with clients, peers, and partners across campus and develop the ability to identify which campus partners to collaborate with on particular projects, as well as leverage strong partnerships to gain campus support.




Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, advertising, communications or a related field.

8-10 years experience delivering creative solutions and strategies via graphic design or copywriting; advertising agency experience is a plus.

2-4 years in a mentorship role. Ability to effectively lead, mentor and coach team members to ensure engagement and continued learning. Previous management experience is a plus.

Superior understanding of marketing and advertising principles, with experience in developing and enforcing brand and design guidelines in complex organizations.

Highly proficient computer skills, especially with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.

Self-motivated, organized and accountable. Project planning experience required; project management skills a plus.

Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure with careful attention to detail.

Well-developed communication skills including ability to articulate creative concepts and rationale to other team members and clients. Strong presentation skills and ability to think on your feet to articulate new strategies during client meetings and creative reviews.

Ability to provide spot-on strategic creative direction, that encompasses both copy and design.

Strong understanding of fundraising and donor engagement.
