We are hiring an Assistant Athletics Director of Development to provide philanthropic support for Creighton Athletics. Responsibilities include annual and major gift discovery, cultivation and solicitation while also partnering with Creighton Athletics on all donor related events and stewardship outreach.  The Assistant Director of Athletic Development will work closely with the Senior Director of Athletic Development to increase opportunities for engagement and support locally and nationally for the Athletic Department. In this position, you will carry your own portfolio of Athletics donors with a focus on identifying prospects and soliciting gifts supporting the Athletic Major Gifts and Jaybackers programs, while offering direct support for all Athletics donor and fundraising events.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of annual and major gift donors and prospects, as defined by working with the Creighton University Office of Development, from initial identification, cultivation, proposal development, solicitation and through stewardship, developing plans and programs to maximize gift revenue for Jaybackers, capital and endowment gifts.

  • Manage a national and state portfolio of approximately 100-125 prospects and donors. 

  • Work closely with the Associate AD of Athletic Development to formulate long term strategic plan for athletic development.

  • Planning for capital projects, execute annual fund and strategize how best to optimize donor cultivation and stewardship.

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Jaybacker annual giving/ season ticket priority program and solicit gift increases for all giving levels. 

  • Assist in the sale of all premium seating efforts including but not limited to: men’s basketball, baseball, men’s and women’s soccer.

  • Work with Associate Director of Athletic Donor Relations on donor cultivation, hospitality, stewardship and recognition programs including opportunities held concurrently with athletic contests at Creighton or opponent venues.

  • Coordinate donor stewardship and cultivation opportunities locally and nationally.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Minimum 5+ years of demonstrated development experience is required.

  • Experience with coordinating events is preferred.

  • Experience working in customer relations is preferred.

  • Demonstrate understanding of how Athletic Departments run in a University setting preferred and experience working with student-athletes, coaches and athletic department personnel.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to speak in a public setting.

  • Familiarity with Advance, Reeher or comparable fund-raising database. 

  • Familiarity with Archtics, Advantage, Paciolin or comparable ticketing and donor database.

  • Ability to think strategically and quickly summarize complex and detailed information.

  • Ability to extensively travel nationally for athletics events and donor visits including during week nights and over weekends.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA and BIG EAST Conference guidelines, policies, rules and regulations with the ability to interpret, apply, enforce and explain such policies and rules.

  • Appreciation and understanding of Creighton University's mission and the ability to effectively communicate it.
